Yay? Not so much, it looks like it will be quite the horror trip, stuck in a completely unheated old Japanese house in a small suburb with my mother-in-law, her husband, grandmother-in-law, grandfather-in-law, brother-in-law and his girlfriend, and of course my husband for 2 weeks. And my husband's family is not exactly an easy family to get along with.
Do you know how pleasant it is to bath in the same bathing water 7 people have used before you each day? Not even talking about how you get zero privacy with 8 people sharing 2 bedrooms. And did I mention it is completely unheated? Like, you get minus degrees in the house each night and also during the day on cold days? And I can already see my mother-in-law constantly urging me "Talk Japanese! Talk Japanese!" every 5 minutes, like she is already doing every time I come visiting her and meet one of her Japanese employees. I can't speak Japanese by the way. I can understand a few chunks out of a very simple conversation, I can translate simple texts with the help of a dictionary, but my Japanese knowledge is far from allowing me to follow the details or even join a conversation in any way.
Not happy about this this, but at least now I have something to look forward to during this trip. Before we head off to freezing family-hell I will be going to a Plastic Tree concert again. ♥
I got my confirmation for the tickets today.
Last year I was supposed to go to the very same end-of-the-year-concert but it got canceled like 2 days before the concert. X.x And if something like this happens again I will probably kill someone.

steffi
