Review: Etude House Etoinette Heart Blusher #PK001 Pink Petal Kiss

Hello! ~
I am finally reviewing the next product from Etude House's limited Etoinette line, the Etude House Etoinette Heart Blusher in the shade PK001 Pink Petal Kiss. I will review the other available shade, OR201, hopefully soon! I was hoping for a bit of sunlight to make better photos, but telling from the weather forecast it looks like there will never ever bee any sun here again, so I have given up and made the photos with indoor lighting.

The blusher comes in the exact same packing as the Etude House Etoinette Crystal Powder, but it is soft pink instead of white. I prefer the white version, as it is less girly and more elegant, but the pink is still very pretty too.
I love the product design, but upon showing it to some friends they noted that they thought that it looked "cheap" because the box was made out of plastic. Personally I don't mind at all and think it looks great and well-made.

The Etude House Etoinette Heart Blusher is "a baked heart-shape blusher with soft glimmering pink colors that supply skin with a fascinating radiant glow."

The heart blushes come in a separate plastic packing and you have to fill them into the blusher container before using them. There are 10 hearts in the box that have 3 different  shades, 2 pink and one kind of goldish? All of them have lots of shimmer particles in them. The hearts are kind of crumbly and one broke apart right when I made swatches, so I do not expect them to stay in heart shape for long. I don't know whether that was caused by shaking during transportation though and I am not all too bothered by it either way. Even though I am obsessed with blush and have so many of them, I do not think I ever had a baked blush before.

There is a puff included in the box too. It is a simple white buff with a pink ribbon, different than the lace-embroiled puff of the Crystal powder. I think it is a bit hard to get the product from the baked and solid powder on the puff, especially if you want to get it on there evenly and not just end up with dots of different pink shades on your cheeks, so I prefer using a blush brush. It is much easier to apply the product like this.

I absolutely adore this Etoinette Heart Blusher and think it is the best product I have from this line so far. While the Etoinette Crystal Shine Lips lipstick just wasn't anything exciting apart from the beautiful design and the Etoinette Crystal Powder was just awful, this blusher works perfectly well for me and is extremely beautiful to look upon.

I still have to decide what to do with the box once I have used up this product, because it is way too beautiful to throw it away, yet I don't have any kind of blush I could refill it with.

UPDATE:

I have read this in other people's reviews and some readers also wrote this in the comments: Many people seem to feel like this blusher isn't very strongly pigmented. However, I cannot really agree to that. Yes, many other blushers I have tried before were stronger pigmented than the Etoinette one, yet it is still giving a nice effect and is very buildable. You might need to add a bit more of the blusher to get the same result you might get with less of the product when using a different blusher, but overall I don't feel like the pigmentation is too disappointing. I think the main problem is probably that this is a baked blusher and it is harder to get product on your brush (or puff) than from a powder blusher or a liquid blusher.
I've added a photo where I am wearing the blush to show what result I get. Because there is still no light outside the photo was taken with flash and is overexposed, but I guess you can get the idea.

  1. This looks absolutely darling! <3 However, I've read from other reviews that it's not very pigmented. Perhaps this will be better for those with lighter skin tones? ><
Maybe you can use it to put sweets or candy inside it once you've finished using it? :D

    1. I have read the same, however, I believe the common mistake was to use it with the puff that comes with the product. If you use it with a blush brush and swirl around the brush in the pot for a while, the result is quite well.
I had blushes before where I couldn't get a pigmented result with a puff, but with a blush, as well as the other way around.

I also think the Orange version is less pigmented than the pink one, but maybe this is just my impression because the orange one is closer to my skin color than the pink one, so the result does not appear so strong.

  2. I always use blusher with a blush brush (two different ones) and I too thought that this (the pink one) was not very pigmented. Maybe it depends on the skin tone?

    1. Of course that's possible too!

I think, should I ever manage to make my face presentable these days, I might take some photos on show the blush looks on my face. Though blush often gets kind of lost on my photos....

  6. The packaging is too pretty. To splurge or not to splurge? Hmm.. I am so curious of the orange shade since they flatter my skin tone more imo. Thank you for the review. :)

  7. What lipcolor is that? It's so pretty! The blusher looks nice to me, and reusing the package I liked the idea LauraLeia had of putting sweets inside ^_^

    1. Thank you! It is the Lavshuca Dramatic Memory Rouge in PK-3.

Putting sweets inside will be difficult because there really isn't much space in the pot, you can only fill like 1/3 of it because the bottom is raised.
Maybe I will find some kind of baked pearl blush for it.

  13. Was für Ideen?
