Shopping: Taobao

Hello! ~
Usually I am not really a person to show off hauls in my blog, either because I think the stuff I buy is very uninteresting to most of my readers, because it is cosmetics which I will show in a review at some point anyway, or because I simply do not buy much besides cosmetics through the year and only go on major shopping hauls when in Japan. However, I haven't made any Mori Girl related posts in a long time. I am also completely neglecting outfit posts, but I have always said that I am not really good with these and in winter it is dark and gray, which makes taking good photos difficult.  I cannot even express how much I dislike winter!
In the meanwhile I thought I would show my Taobao haul, which, of course, consist of Mori Kei fashion only. I have always been kind of hesitating when it comes to Taobao. One reason is that I know many sellers there show photos of other store's original products, but sell you poorly made and sometimes ridiculous looking products that hardly resemble the ones on the photo and the other reason was that I thought, once I start shopping at Taobao and everything works well I will be financially ruined. I guess I was right. My Taobao watchlist is currently 7 pages long and I only put items there which I want really bad! T_T

I would love to show some wearing photos, but this has to wait till it gets warmer or at least sunnier. In the meanwhile I have made some photos of the clothes.
Here are the things I bought:

I bought the leggings and stockings at Mori Girl Fans. The products look exactly as the ones shown on their photos, expect for maybe the color being slightly off, but that's really a matter of camera/monitor settings. The quality seems quite good too! I am very pleased, love this store and will absolutely purchase more from them in the future. From what I can tell they are also one of the suppliers for the Japanese stores Cawaii and Favourite One. If you have ever bought from these stores you will know what a bargain you get when you buy them from the original Taobao seller!
The pants on the left of the first photo (I just love pants that look like skirts!) were bought from ayakaqjd, another supplier of Cawaii, from what I can tell. This store is really Mori Girl heaven!
And last, but not least, the  pants on the rightwere bought from welive, another awesome store.

I decided I really need some more pants or thick leggings/stockings in winter. I also bought a bra, because I love the super cheesy lace-invested lingerie you get in Asia. But I don't think anyone needs to see my underwear, so I am not showing. XP
I am really pleased with all I have bought and am already putting together my next Taobao order. I will be so poor soon!

Here are the official product photos, which obviously look better than my poor-light-condition photos.

  1. Great purchases! I have a love-hate relationship with Taobao. There are so many goodies at a really cheap price but cheap price also comes with poor quality. The quality of your items look really good! :)

  2. I have a love-hate relationship with Taobao too! Though mostly because they have so much amazing stuff (love!) and it will make me so poor (hate!).
I have to restrict myself to not making more than one order per month. X.x

  3. Thankfully my first shopping experience on TaoBao was good :)
I ordered two items from litongxue and they're good, the items are the exact match with the one shown on the picture.
I really need to invest on Mori kei pants, not too mention pants in general because almost all of them are very loose on the hip, so it slid down and almost got off me if I did not secure it with belts T___T
Have you tried making your own Mori pants? Like those jeans with lace trim on the bottom?

  4. Really some cute items ♥ I bought only lolita related stuff on taobao before, so I can't help you with finding some more mori girl-shops :( But I can understand the love-hate relationship XD

  5. You got such cute things! Do you know if they ship to the US?

  6. These are really nice buys! The skirts are just so pretty!

  7. Taobao is a site in Chinese only. I do not understand any Chinese, but I suppose the lack of an English version means they ship nationally only.

You will need to hire a shopping agent in China to buy the stuff for you.

  8. These are all pants or stockings. ;)

  9. really?? Wow it looks like a skirt though! Must be comfy :P

  10. Yes, I know! And I absolutely love pants that look like skirts! <3

  11. From my experience, http://litongxue.taobao.com/ is also a good shop, I purchased two items from them and they're exactly the same with the pictures, not defected whatsoever.
I need to invest on mori pants but I need more money before that, lol. Also, do you think attaching lace to jeans can make it into mori-esque pants?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yes, I am sure you can make jeans into mori-esque pants. I have seen similar pants being sold in various Mori stores.

But I think you should use washed-out light jeans for this. Personally I am not a big fan of jeans, mostly because I think they are so stiff! But I guess you could do that with almost every kind of pants as long as the color was right.

  13. Cool. My jeans are already old so they're loose everywhere, doesn't even hung on my hip properly, it's not stiff anymore haha. I was thinking if I could do something about it, thank you.

  14. Checked out these stores and everything looks so awesome but I can't figure out what most of the pages directions mean, and no idea how to order. So sad.

  15. You cannot order from Taobao stores if you aren't in China. You will need a Shopping Agend for that, whom you tell what to buy for you.

  16. Haha, oh that makes a lot of sense, glad that's cleared up now ^_^

128 Yuan sind also etwa 16€.

  22. I am afraid all my bottoms are free size, as most (cheap) clothes are in Asia. When it comes to skirts you don't need to worry, they usually fit, because the waistband is elastic. With pants you should not worry about "baggy pants" or general loose cut pants like the one I bought here, it also has an elastic waist band and would probably fit a lot of people. Same goes about the leggings bought here. What you should stay away would be all kinds of form-fitting pants. I couldn't get most of these past my thigh or butt in Japan.

It has been years since I bought pants in Germany, so I am not sure about my size now, but even back then my shirts were S or XS and my pants were M or L. Not sure whether this helps for orientation. I really have rather thick legs.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks for your reply! I'm really itching to order one just to try it out.

I'm bottom heavy, which is my concern that even the baggy ones would look too tight .. you know how they are supposed to look all loose and flowy.

And it doesn't help that the model in Mori Girl Fans is only 38kg!

    ReplyDelete
  24. But there is an exact measurement given! For the first one the length is 69-74cm, the "front" ( the part from the where the zip would be if it had one to the crotch) is 27cm, and the back is 34. The hips are 2.8 shaku - I have no clue why the tablet suddenly switches to a different measuring system here, but it should be around 85cm. The waist is 1.6-2.3 shaku, so 49-70cm (this doesn't seem like a lot, my waist is 67cm and the pants I bought from that store were super loose around my waist!). Thighs are 50 and the leg circumferences is 38.

I am honestly not so sure that these measurements are very accurate, because I would have problems with the thighs here, at least the pants would not be very loose, but the pants I have bought from them were SUPER loose and they also only listed 74cm max for the thighs. If I had looked at the measurements before buying them I would probably not have bought them at all, since they should not fit, but they do and should even fit a person bigger than me easily.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The shaku is a new measurement to me! Was just wiki-ing it and this is what I found ...

    http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E5%B0%BA

If its correct, 2.3shaku should be 87cm? Thats if its shaku and not the Hong Kong measurement. It's slightly different.

My waist is 74cm, so it's cutting it pretty close for me.

  26. i would really like some of the brown leggings but have searched everywhere on mori girl fans for them, but i don't seem to find them :( can you help me out?

    ReplyDelete
  27. They were here:
    http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=16554654351&spm=2014.12642556.0.0
    and
    http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=21334004480&spm=2014.12642556.0.0

But I don't think they are available anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  28. awwh nooo :( do you think they would re-stock them at all? I hope so as i don't normally buy leggings from Asian stores as i worried they would be too short, as i am really tall but these ones seem like they would of been long enough. I was also wondering in that store i had made a purchase a week ago, but it still says the seller has not shipped of my clothes. since you have purchased before you know anything about this? sorry for all my questions , but i don't know who else who can help me? thanks :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I am not sure they will restock them. Sometimes I see things being restocked, sometimes even a year later, but that is often an exception.

These one are actually really short! http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=21334004480&spm=2014.12642556.0.0 I think they are supposed to be like this though. The other ones are super long and should not cause and problems for tall people.

Yes, it was "National Day" in China on October 1st and they celebrate for a few days (I think October 1st till October 7th?). So many shops have closed and I think the Chinese posts is also on Holidays for these days? That is why you might have to wait till next week for your oder to be shipped.

    ReplyDelete
  30. ohh i see, that makes alot of sense then, and it's good that it is, as i want to cancel a few of the items i ordered as i saw other things on other websites i liked more and only 2 more days till they can ship it off so not long! :)

I really hope they do re-stock the longer ones as i really like the style off them! :)
Thanks for your response has really helped me :)

  31. Hello its me again. I just wanted to say that on the Mori girl Fans store they still have not shipped off my items? And it's been over 2 weeks now since i made the purchase. Do you know anything else that could be the problem? Im really confused and don't know what i should do? I have contacted them a couple times about it but i have no response. Please help me if you can, thank you :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh, that's weird! I ordered from the a couple of times now and never had that problem. Did you buy it directly from Taobao, or did you use a shipping service? Maybe the problem lies there somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think ordered directly from Taobao but how can i check to make sure? But the other shops i ordered from have shipped off and i ordered them the same way. There was free shipping i think, so do you think that might have anything to do with it too?
How much shipping did you have to pay?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I never ordered directly from Taobao, since they only ship to China, so I am afraid I do not know about that... :(

    ReplyDelete
  35. ohh so maybe that is the problem? Do you know how i can use a shipping service? Because i can just refund the whole order and re order them again but with a shipping service. I didn't know there was a difference!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I honestly do not know. I am a bit confused here. How did you even order from Taobao, the site is completely in Chinese only!

    ReplyDelete
  37. My computer automatically translates it to English. I am also confused XD My process was i added the items to basket i liked, then i just clicked on buy an it took me over the a page where i can make the order, and the address stated it was oversees

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh gosh. That sounds like quite a mess. Maybe the sellers just do not reply because they do not understand any English?

As for shipping services there are a lot of them out there- BuyChina.com is one I like to use because it calculates the shipping costs in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  39. yeah it really is a bit of a mess XD but i think i will be able to sort it all out now that you helped me to clear things up :) I'm just trying to figure out how to refund all my items from the shops that have not shipped, but 2 of the shops did ship off, so just waiting on them, and one was able to reply to me in english about my shipping being too low. And as for the other shops, i will re order them through a shipping agent now i know how it all works! :) thank you

    ReplyDelete
  40. I hope it all works out for you in the end. Good luck!
